Justin Bieber 2010 MTV Europe Music Awards Digital Host
Another Day, Another Gig For The Biebs: Justin Bieber has been named digital host of the next month’s 2010 MTV Europe Music Awards in Madrid, MTV said Thursday.
The beloved Canadian-born pop star will host one of European music’s biggest nights in “interactive overlays” on a live stream of the ceremony on the MTV website Nov. 7, according to the network.
“With 5.6 million followers on Twitter, Justin Bieber is currently one of the most followed and influential celebrities taking advantage of the breakthrough social networking site,” MTV said in a news release. “Harnessing that power, Justin Bieber will be tweeting and interacting live with fans watching the 2010 MTV EMAs online through a number of new, exclusive features added to the Web simulcast of the show.”
Justin, who rose to pop prominence after gaining a substantial online following, is looking forward to stepping into his role as a virtual MC: “I’m so excited to have all my fans come watch the show with me online. It will be like one giant, global viewing party at my house.”
Eva Longoria is tapped to host this year’s ceremony, which will air on MTV2 with live performances by acts like include Shakira, Katy Perry, and Ke$ha.
